So consider this post a "dumping ground" for my thoughts, I'm determined to get things ticked off my Summer Bucket List this year.
Find some Sunshine - of course great weather isn't always guaranteed in the UK so the first job on our Summer Bucket List is to organise ourselves a Summer holiday, preferably somewhere sunny with beaches.
Dine al fresco - we've been wanting to visit Riley's Fish Shack on Tynemouth beach for such a long time and now that they have a temporary Summer home on Newcastle's Quayside there's no excuse not to go. I also want to finally enjoy one of the pavement cafes on Newcastle's Grey Street. I don't know why, but food always tastes so much better when you have it outside.
Make S'mores - I've been obsessed with the idea of making S'mores for months now and with Summer almost here I feel like now is the ideal time. We have some pretty epic marshmallows in our kitchen cupboard that are ideal for toasting and squishing between chocolate biscuits.
Explore National Trust - following our adventure at Seaton Delaval Hall last month I've really been bitten by the National Trust bug. We have some amazing properties in the North East that we're yet to explore, and I'd also love to adventure to some other sites across the UK.
The Ice-Cream Van - every Sunday afternoon, usually at around 4:00 pm when I'm up to my eyeballs in blog work we hear the catchy tunes of the ice-cream van coming down our road. He parks right outside our house, which to me is just an open invitation. Before the Summer is over I'm determined to frantically run out into the street with my slippers on to get myself a 99.
Puffin spotting - Every Summer I say I'm going to book a boat trip to the Farne Islands to see the Puffins but so far it's never happened. I love how cute Puffins are yet have never seen one in real life. I really do need to get out there this Summer.
Pack up a picnic - I'm so tempted to put a picnic basket on our wedding gift list as I've always wanted one. I love the idea of packing up a big wicker basket full of goodies and going on an adventure with Simon.
Go on a bike ride - No exaggeration, this has been on my Summer bucket list for years. This year it needs to happen. I love the idea of hiring bikes and going for a little adventure, I'm thinking either a Tyneside cycle with The Cycle Hub or adventuring in Kielder with The Bike Place.
Go fruit picking - something else that's been on my Summer Bucket List ever since I can remember. It's been a good year or so since we visited Brockbushes for cake, and I still haven't been back to do fruit picking. I can't make pies or jam so don't ask me what I'm going to do with baskets full of fruit, I just love the idea of going.
Explore the North East - we still have so much to see and so many more places to explore. We dipped our toes in during last year's North East Staycation but I'm determined to tick a few more places off my list this Summer.
I'm sure I've forgotten things but this is definitely a good start. Let me know what's on your Summer Bucket List.
This is a collaborative post but all thoughts are my own.
We should arrange to go on a puffin trip together over summer now that you'll have a car!

Great idea and great list! :)
ReplyDeleteMy mummy group normally makes a bucket list for the summer holidays.. we have one on the go at the moment and I can't wait. :)
Eating outside and late into the night, even in your own garden is a favourite point for me. Puffin spotting is fantastic. I did it there as child, I think I still have pictures somewhere. :) and bike rides and picnic's go hand in hand. :)
