Recently I met up with Lisa and Kayleigh for a cake date. After much debate about where to go (it's hard to pick where to go for cake when there's so much choice in the North East) we decided on Bradley Gardens.
Bradley Gardens is a Victorian Walled Garden near Wylam, 9 miles west of Newcastle. Recently under new ownership, the Gardens is the place to splash out on some new furniture for your home or some plants for your garden whilst enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
As I'm yet to become a homeowner it was the tea rooms that I was most interested in and Bradley Gardens does not disappoint. They serve freshly made breakfasts, lunches and mouth watering cakes which you can enjoy in one of the many beautiful glass houses or outside on the garden furniture.
It was quite difficult trying to chose which of the amazing looking treats to go for but after learning all about Opera Cake on last year's Great British Bake Off I decided it was about time I had my first taste and opted for the Raspberry Opera Cake with a pot of tea.
We were blessed with a hot day so decided to enjoy our cake outside which was absolute bliss. Surrounded by beautiful flowers and garden walls it felt a little bit like eating in the Secret Garden.
There were plenty of chairs and tables out in the sunshine and it is an ideal place to meet up with friends or just somewhere peaceful to sit down with the Sunday papers.
My cake was delicious, my company was entertaining and there really was no better way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I will definitely be returning soon, as I had my eye on a few of the lunches that were being brought out and they looked so good.
For some more glimpses of the beautiful Gardens and what they have to offer I'd love you all to head to my friend Chloe's blog here to read about the recent Supper Club held at Bradley Gardens.
It is really lovely to eat cakes in beautiful surroundings it makes all the difference. The opera cake looks yummy. I bet it didn't last long yum Lucy x
