When I was in my 20s I used to buy a lot of bags, quite often they were from Primark and too small for practical use. So they'd sit in a giant box under my bed never used.
Now I'm older, and I like to think a tiny bit more sensible, I try and apply a bit more thought before I buy things and have come to realise that quality really is more important than quantity when it comes to something as important as your handbag.
I carry my handbag around with me every day and it's always crammed full of things (some might call it junk but I like to think it's all essential) I'm forever complaining to Simon that it's too heavy and that my shoulder hurts yet I continue to walk around with it packed to bursting.
Therefore I need a bag that's big, practical, sturdy but obviously it also needs to look good.
One day I will treat myself to a gorgeous Mulberry Bayswater because I think every girl needs a designer bag in her life but for now I'm making do with the best that the high street can offer.
When on the hunt for a new bag I took it all a little seriously and found myself watching endless videos on you tube to find my perfect bag. Whilst it's great to have a look round the shops it's nice to hear reviews from people who have used a bag every day and know it's pros and cons.
In the end I decided on the Zara City Bag With Zips. I was initially torn between this and the smaller Mini City Bag but decided that the smaller version would probably never hold all of my things.
Personally I think Zara make the best handbags on the high street, they are beautiful, stylish and most importantly affordable. The City Bag with Zips is £59.99 which is a good price for a lovely quality bag.
The City Bag with Zips, is pretty large, but it's a nice size and perfect for my requirements. You can easily fit in your sunglasses, camera, shawl (yes I'm an old lady and I get cold in air conditioning ... don't judge!), a bottle of water, makeup, a magazine and still have a little room for things you might collect along the way.
I really love the beautiful mauve lining (it actually makes me smile each time I open it) and the big gold zips.
It has lots of separate compartments, some lovely hidden zipped areas and a button holding it all together. The front compartment is padded so it's perfect for carrying your tablet around.
Does anyone else own a Zara Bag?
What a great bag perfect for a laptop, book and all the million things women carry around. The bigger the handbag the more I cram in. Wishing you a lovely weekend Lucy x
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty huge!
DeleteHope you have a lovely weekend too m'dear ... lets hope for some sun!

I love Zara bags. You really get what you pay for. I have 2 in my current collection.. however, they're gathering dust, as my current bag is a changing bag!lol
ReplyDeleteI looked at getting the Zara mini city bag.. but then the above reason made me not buy.. boo! :(

Absolutely! I just need to learn this with clothes now .. I'm so used to going in Primark that if I go anywhere else now I'm like "HOW MUCH?!" :p
DeleteOh yes, that's fab! I need a good bag that will fit my laptop in it!!
ReplyDeleteLots of love,

I might pinch Simon's tablet just to test it out ;)
DeleteI was given a big burgundy bag from Zara for Christmas. It's brilliant - so durable and roomy! I use it for everything (though I often end up hitting people with it as it is a tad too large)

HA! When I lived in London it was kinda great having a big bag to use as a barging device when people were in the way! Don't think that'd work up here though!
DeleteThis is cute! I would definitely say that if Zara ever fails Accessorize can also be a great contender for the best high street bags though; I have one just like this in black but no zip (you've probably seen it, it's been in the shop for years now), it cost me £40 I believe and it's lasted me as a uni bag with my laptop and books in it for 2 years now, with barely any wear!! Amazing.

Oh yes, I am partial to an Accessorize bag as well, they have such a huge range as well x
DeleteOoh that is gorgeous! :)

I need to take it out more though, I love it so much that part of me wants to keep it clean and tidy (what an idiot!) ... imagine if I did have a designer bag .. I'd probably never take it out!
DeleteThat bag is stunning! Its always hard trying to decide what is 'comfy' to wear and what is big enough!

It is pretty heavy when it's empty .... but that's what Simon is for ;)
DeleteChloe i am swooning over that bag... so so pretty! i don't own a zara bag, but i am determined to buy one this year and make it a staple and also a pair of zara shoes are on my crush list too! XX
ReplyDeletePs the sausage and mash meal above is totally making me hungry.. can i come round for tea? LOL xx
Ooooooooooh and Zara coats are also so so lovely! We don't have a Zara in the centre of Newcastle so going there turns into a bit of a shopping adventure to the Metrocentre (Not complaining!)
DeleteHA HA, believe me you don't want to come round for tea, I can't cook at all!!!
